Watch Jay-Z’S Interview With David Letterman [NEWS]
Talk show legend David Letterman returned to what he does best with the new Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. He is hosting 6 episodes of hour long chats on the streaming service, which kicked of January 12th and airing monthly till June.
The latest guest on the show is none other than Jay-Z. The nearly hour long chat between the former late-night host and the man once known as H.O.V.A. goes to territories like his marital issues, selling crack as a 16 year old and bringing $2000 a day back home, sexual orientation of the rapper’s mother, President Trump, criminal justice reform, the usage of the N-word, the old East Coast vs. West Coast rivalry, relationship with Kanye West and much more.
Jay-Z didn’t shy away from naming some of his influences in Rap: “There’s so many great people,” Jay-Z replies. “Biggie Smalls of course, Tupac of course … Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick.” “Are there guys who are successful that are not good?” Letterman asked to take the convo further. “Of course,” Jay-Z says. “All the time – it’s like everything else.” Letterman tries to press him to name someone who’s topped charts but can’t rap. Jay-Z goes total diplomatic and answers the question with another question. “How ’bout this,” he says. “Who’s on TV in late night, right now, that’s not even remotely funny?”
