GREEN BOTTLES By EMMANUEL ONYEMA [POEM]

GREEN BOTTLES

The sizzling sound

Makes my heart come alive
Give me another round
Let me feel this LIFE

Conversing with my bottles ever near
Silent laughter, loud smiles
Voices only I can hear
Over and over a thousand times

I’m a STAR
Who’s home is the bar
I’m hygienically brewed
Not to call me a HERO will be rude

My loyal allies and friends
Mr HEINEKEN and Mr Ken
Both best of fiends
A great mixture a sour blend

I’m filled with life’s benefit
Earth is beneath my feet
Yet men as tall as trees
Seem so empty like the breeze

Play the 33 strings and HARPs
make melodies nice and sharp
let the butterflies in my breadbasket
arise and dance in every facet

After all said and done
I’m left empty, hungry and poor
Young but not strong anymore
At twenty-three I feel eighty-one

Woe unto these green bottles
For they are a sweet poison
